Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certifikater er gratis

Det er ret forbløffende, at nogle (mange?) hostingfirmaer opkræver stadig betaling for Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certifikater, whereas those are now free:

• enten med WHM/cPanel ved hjælp af Let's Encrypt (og fornyelsen er gratis & automatisk!)
• or using a third party like SSL For Free.

The word needs to go out that SSL is not an expense any more. Some certificates show a green bar in the browser (ringede “EV” SSL for “Extended Validation”) which means that the legal existence of the company is double checked (by a human). Those EV SSL are completely worthless: they do not improve the encryption. Consider this: 10 big IT companies have been reviewed and none of them are using EV SSL!

Conclusion: if you really want to invest for your business it will be better to spend your money towards Get Proper Hosting™.
